Any Big Upsets So Far in PL 25/26?

With another international break well underway, we’ve taken a moment to look at the situation in the PL so far this season, where Arsenal are top of the league after the first seven matches! Liverpool have just lost two games in a row, while Wolves look like a lost flock at the bottom of the standings.

The next matchday is still over a week away, but there is already a lot of anticipation ahead of the Sunday fixture between Liverpool and Man Utd! Let’s start our little breakthrough with a look at the potential title challengers of 2025/26!

The Title Challengers

The current odds to win the league in the PL:

Arsenal: 1.92
Liverpool: 3.75
Man City: 5.00
Chelsea: 26.00
Tottenham 40.00

Chelsea and Spurs are big outsiders, but as of now, they are listed as the 4th and 5th biggest favourite to win the league, respectively. Spurs might have lost Son, but they’ve had a decent start to the season, finding themselves in 3rd place after only losing one of their opening 7 matches. Chelsea have had a disappointing start to the season after winning the CWC this summer, finding themselves in 7th place having only won 3 of their opening seven fixtures. So, who are the big favourites to go all the way and lift the trophy in May?

It’s no surprise that Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City are the title favourites, but it might raise a few eyebrows seeing the order of the favourites. Liverpool had a great start to the season, but they’ve now lost two matches in a row, meaning Arsenal have gone top of the league by one point. Arne Slot’s team host Man Utd Sunday next week, hoping to get back to winning ways with a victory over their rivals from Manchester.

Arsenal are big favourites in their next league match, which is away at Fulham in a London derby early Saturday evening, while Man City are expected to beat Everton in Manchester earlier on the same day.

Bournemouth, who are currently 4th in the league, are at 150.00 to win the league, with Man Utd (70.00), Crystal Palace (80.00) and Newcastle (130.00) considered more likely league winners.

Stuck In the Middle…

Although the title race seems like a battle between three teams, there’s still plenty to play for in the PL, including the European spots. Man Utd, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Chelsea might be languishing around the middle of the standings presently, but they’ll all have ambitions to qualify for Europe next season.

Below are a few of the clubs we expect will fight for a place in Europe, desperate to avoid the no man’s land that is the middle of the standings:

To finish in the top 4:

Chelsea: 1.97
Tottenham: 3.70
Newcastle: 4.90
Man Utd: 5.80
Bournemouth: 7.80
Crystal Palace: 8.80

To finish in the top half:

Chelsea: 1.03
Tottenham: 1.15
Newcastle: 1.20
Man Utd: 1.27
Bournemouth: 1.30
Crystal Palace: 1.40

Despite optimism ahead of the season kick-off, the Man Utd hopefuls have seen their team struggle to find consistency yet again, and 3 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats isn’t what the Red Devils were hoping for 7 matches into the 25/26 season. Despite this, we’re still early in the season, and a lot can still change. Newcastle have also struggled so far, only managing 2 wins in 7 matches so far, with Aston Villa also having managed to grab 9 out of 21 points until now. Newcastle are away at Brighton in their next match, while Spurs host Aston Villa, hoping to cause further problems for the Birmingham club.

We’ve also got odds out on top 5, top 6 and teams NOT to finish the the top 4. For all out outrights, click here.

Relegation Danger

With the first 7 matches played, we’ve also seen a few teams struggle at the bottom of the standings, with Wolves currently last with only 2 points secured from their first seven matches. Vitor Pereira’s club is still looking for their first win of the season, and their fans are hopeful it will come in their next match, away at Sunderland. The latter have impressed so far this season, sitting 9th in the standings thanks to 3 wins and 2 draws from their first 7 matches.

Burnley and West Ham are the other two teams currently in the relegation zone, with the former hosting Leeds in their next match and the latter hosting Brentford. Here are the top 6 favourites to get relegated from the PL this season:

Burnley: 1.30
Wolves: 1.53
Sunderland: 2.50
West Ham: 2.50
Nottingham Forest: 3.75
Leeds: 4.00

What are your predictions for the PL this season? Will any of the newly promoted teams end up in the top half? Can Arsenal finally win the league again or will Liverpool or Man City find their form and turn things around after a somewhat shaky start?
