PSG vs Inter: CL Final 24/25 Preview

The winner of the 2025 CL will be one of either Paris Saint-Germain or Inter as we look ahead to an exciting showdown in Germany. Let’s take a closer look at this year’s CL final!

Inter have not lifted the biggest prize in European football since Jose Mourinho’s infamous treble-winning team of 2010. The Italian giants will be hoping to add to their three CL titles come May 31. On the other hand, PSG are yet to taste the glory that comes with being crowned European champions. The Parisians lost their 2020 final against Bayern Munich, but Luis Enrique has assembled an electric squad heading into the 2025 showpiece.

Let’s take a look at everything you need to know ahead of the CL final between PSG and Inter, including predicted line-ups, score predictions, head-to-head results, odds, and more!

PSG vs Inter – CL Journey So Far

PSG may be in the CL final, but they have not looked so imperious throughout the competition this season. Luis Enrique and his squad finished just 15th in the League Phase table, which wasn’t even good enough to qualify for the automatic knockouts. The Parisians were forced to face off against Brest in a two-legged play-off match, at which point they finally began to showcase their dominance with a 10-0 aggregate win. If that wasn’t enough of a warning to the rest of Europe, PSG then defeated eventual PL champions Liverpool via a tense penalty shootout after losing 1-0 at home and winning 1-0 away at Anfield. PSG certainly rose to the occasion in the shootout, winning 4-1 on the night to send Arne Slot’s team crashing out of Europe.

In the quarter-finals, Paris Saint-Germain came up against English opposition once more, this time in the form of Unai Emery’s Aston Villa. Although Villa battled hard throughout the tie, Enrique and co eventually found themselves 5-1 up on aggregate in the second leg at Villa Park. However, Emery had one last trick up his sleeve against his old team, with Villa fighting all the way back to 5-4. They even missed a glorious chance to level the scores, but the elusive final goal proved just that – elusive. In the semi-finals, PSG made it three from three, completing the PL hat-trick by squaring off against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. Les Parisiens started in the best possible fashion, withstanding an Arsenal storm and earning a hard-fought 1-0 away victory at the Emirates. Two goals at home were enough to seal qualification to the CL final, despite Bukayo Saka causing a late scare.

Unlike PSG, Inter performed admirably in the League Phase of the CL this season. Only Arsenal, Barcelona, and Liverpool finished above them in the final standings, with Inter recording six wins and one draw from eight games. This earned Simone Inzaghi and his squad automatic qualification to the knockouts where Feyenoord waited in the Round of 16. The 2024 Serie A champions made light work of the Dutch outfit, scoring two goals both home and away to record a 4-1 aggregate victory.

In the quarter-finals, Inter treated us to a pulsating CL double header, coming up against Harry Kane and Bayern Munich in the final eight. It turned out to be a story of Inter striking when Munich were at their most dangerous. In the first leg, Thomas Muller levelled the scores at 1-1 in Germany with just minutes on the clock before Davide Frattesi hit back a mere three minutes later. In the second leg, Bayern drew level once more through Harry Kane, making the aggregate score 2-2 heading into the final 30 minutes. However, Inter fought back instantly once more, with Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard both striking within three minutes of one another. Eric Dier put the pressure on with a late header but Inter were able to see out a hard-fought victory to qualify for the semi-finals.

If you thought the quarters were entertaining, it was nothing compared to Inter’s two-legged semi-final against Barcelona. It would be no exaggeration to label it the most exciting CL semi-final of all time. Inter went 2-0 up away at the Nou Camp, only for Barca to fight back twice to level the final score at 3-3. The two European giants repeated the trick once more back at the San Siro, with Raphinha scoring in the 87th minute to put Barca 6-5 up on aggregate only for Francesco Acerbi to equalise in the 93rd. After 3-3 away and 3-3 at home, Inter went on to win the tie 7-6 on aggregate thanks to a Frattesi extra-time strike. And breathe!

PSG vs Inter: Date, Kick-off Time, and Venue

PSG vs Inter in the CL final will take place at the Allianz Arena on Saturday 31 May. The match will kick off at 9 p.m. local time in Paris.

PSG vs Inter Team News

PSG have an almost fully fit squad heading into the CL final this weekend. The Parisians lifted the French Cup with a 3-0 win over Reims on Saturday night, which will serve as a dress rehearsal for the big event on Saturday. Not only will PSG be looking to win their first CL, but they also have a potential treble on the cards! The only notable absentee for Luis Enrique against Reims was Presnel Kimpembe, with the rest of the squad taking part in training without issue. Both Gianluigi Donnarumma and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were rested in the final, but the rest of PSG’s first-choice XI started the game.

Inter fans were treated to fantastic news this week, despite losing out on the league title to Napoli on the final day of the season. Simone Inzaghi should have a full squad to choose from by the time the CL final rolls around on Saturday. Both Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez have missed key European fixtures with injury problems in 2025, but both were present on the bench in the 2-0 win against Como at the weekend. In fact, Inzaghi didn’t even have to throw them into the action, meaning both are well-rested and ready for the final on May 31. Two players who were missing against Como – Benjamin Pavard and Piotr Zielinski – are both expected to return to training this week and will be ready in time for Saturday. Yann Bisseck, who went off injured at the weekend, is said to be fit enough to take his place in the CL final squad too.

It remains to be seen whether PSG or Inter pick up any additional injuries between now and the evening of Saturday 31 May.

PSG vs Inter: Players to Watch

PSG boast one of the most exciting front lines in world football at the moment, including Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Having said that, Bradley Barcola will be pushing for a start after his brace in the French Cup final on Saturday. Meanwhile, the central midfield trio of Neves, Vitinha, and Ruiz offer so much press resistance and control that it may be hard for Inter to get their foot on the ball at times. However, Inter’s own trio of Nicolo Barella, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan provides the perfect amount of aggression and creativity to go toe-to-toe with the Parisians. Up front, look no further than Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez to grab a goal from absolutely nothing, while Davide Frattesi has come up with vital goals off the bench in the last two rounds.

PSG vs Inter Head-to-Head Results

PSG and Inter have never met in the CL before. When Inter were last in the final in 2023, they also faced a team they had never faced before in Manchester City. PSG’s recent record against Italian teams includes six wins, nine draws, and ten losses. Inter’s recent results against French teams include nine wins, nine draws, and six defeats.
