France – Can anyone stop PSG?
PSG are currently 1.12 to win the league title again in 25/26, with Monaco (13.00) and Marseille (15.00) the closest contenders, but both of them are miles behind according to the odds.
PSG came back from two goals behind to beat Tottenham on penalties in the Super Cup final this week, and despite having shown some weaknesses both in this match and in their heavy 0-3 defeat to Chelsea in the CWC final, there really shouldn’t be any question as to whether or not they’ll take home the title.
Donnarumma is on his way out, with newly arrived Lucas Chevalier set to take over as first choice goalie after his move from Lille. Other than that, Illia Zabarnyi has arrived from Bournemouth, while Skriniar made his move to Fenerbahce permanent. With stars like Dembele, Vitinha, Barcola, Marquinhos, Hakimi and Kvaratskhelia, PSG should easily win the title again in 25/26.
Which teams will join PSG in the top 3 is another question, with Monaco and Marseille favourites to grab the other top spots in the league this season. The former have signed Paul Pogba, and it will be exciting to see what he can bring to the table in his first season ever as a senior player in France. Marseille have signed Paixao from Feyenoord, as well as Neal Maupay, Facundo Medina, Timothy Weah and Pierre-Emile Hojberg, and they’ll definitely be hoping to cause a bit of an upset at the top.
Other teams expected to make a push for the top 3 are Lille, Nice and Lyon. Our prediction? We think PSG will win (surprise, surprise) ahead of Marseille and Monaco, in that order.
When looking at the other side of the standings, Angers, Le Havre and Metz are the unfortunate favourites to go down, with Lorient, Nantes and Auxerre also teams considered to be in the danger zone.
Dembele is the favourite to become top scorer, with four of his team-mates (Ramos, Kvaratskhelia, Barcola and Doué) also in the top 6 favourites!
PSG should run away with the title, but there’s still plenty of excitement around this upcoming season, with Pogba returning and the PSG side looking to continue where they left off both domestically and in Europe in 25/26.
Spain – Real Madrid or Barcelona?
Can anyone stop Real Madrid or Barcelona? The former are 1.77 to clinch the title this season, with Barcelona at 2.10. The next team on the list is unsurprisingly Atlético Madrid at 9.00. Diego Simeone’s team will likely need a perfect season, or a huge collapse from both the favourites, if they are to lift the league title this campaign.
Real Madrid have been active on the transfer market without going crazy, with TAA, Dean Huijsen and Franco Mastantuono arriving and Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez amongst the players leaving the club. Barcelona haven’t been as busy in the transfer market for obvious financial reason, though Joan Garcia has arrived from Espanyol, as well as Ronny Bardghji from F.C. Copenhagen.
Can Yamal, Lewandowski and their Barcelona take the title this season? We doubt it, but they should keep Atlético Madrid at bay and secure 2nd behind their arch-rivals Real Madrid.
In addition to the aforementioned clubs, Athletic and Villarreal seem most likely to make a push for the top 4 positions, with Real Betis also in with a slight chance, though it would probably be too much to ask of them.
Real Oviedo, Elche and Levante are relegation favourites, with Espanyol and Alaves also predicted to struggle this season. Looking at the top goalscorer odds, Mbappe (1.68) is the odds favourite ahead of Lewandowski (2.50). The odds suggests it’s a two-horse race, with the next players on the list all the way down at 11.00.
We expect Real Madrid to grab the title here, with Barcelona finishing 2nd ahead of Atlético Madrid. No matter what happens, there should be plenty of great matches and memorable moments in the upcoming season which kicks off Friday August 15 with two matches, Girona – Rayo Vallecano and Villarreal – Oviedo.
