Early WC Predictions
Last week’s big WC draw in Washington means we can finally start looking at some of the fixtures in next summer’s big tournament across the pond. This upcoming tournament will be the biggest yet in terms of size, with 48 teams competing for the trophy, so let’s take a look at some early WC predictions!
Winner – which team will lift the trophy?
We’re exactly 6 months away from the opening match from next year’s big tournament, Mexico – South Africa, so what better time for an early look at some WC tournament odds?
Spain are the early favourites to lift the trophy, and the 2012 and 2024 European champions would love nothing more than to lift the big trophy again 16 years after they won their only WC so far in South Africa. Their manager Luis de la Fuente has quite the team at his disposal, with a solid core group of players, a good mix of experience and talent and a favourable group. Cucurella, Merino, Yamal and Rodri are all players that could help the Spanish team to victory again next summer, but there will be plenty of other teams hoping to upset the odds.
France and England are both contenders, with the latter managing to go through the qualifiers winning all their games without conceding a single goal. Harry Kane, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer are all players that could end up as key players for Tuchel as he aims to end England’s trophy draught on the biggest stage. Is next year finally their year?
Didier Deschamps is hoping to see players like Mbappe, Olise and Barcola lift the trophy again, after having lost to Argentina in the final of the last edition of the tournament. They’re favourites to win their group, and will be looking forward to their opening match against Senegal.
Brazil and Argentina are also considered to be in with a fairly decent chance of lifting the trophy, with Brazil looking for their first WC win since 2002, and the latter looking to defend their title in what will surely be Messi’s last big tournament.
