Place a Bet on Greek Cup at Betsmith
The Greek Cup is the second most popular domestic football tournament for men in Greece. The Hellenic Football Federation organises it, and this tournament has taken place 83 times since its beginning in 1931. One of the most notable matches in the competition took place in 2009 between Olympiacos and AEK Athens. It ended 3–3 after full time, 4–4 in extra time, and 15–14 on penalties.
For the 2025/2026 season and continuing after this season, there has been a change to the event format. The new format introduced qualification rounds, a league phase, and single (instead of two-legged) quarterfinals. To place Greek Cup bets on every game each season, team up with Betsmith for the best odds and markets.
The 2025/2026 Season of the Greek Cup
This year's competition was adapted to meet the UEFA standard for football tournaments. It now includes qualifying rounds, league phase rounds, playoffs, quarterfinals, semi-finals, and a final. A total of 31 teams are participating in this 84th edition, which began on 18 August 2025, with the qualification round. It will conclude with the final scheduled for 25 April 2026.
Up until the semi-finals, extra time will not be included in any matches. Teams that finish in the top four positions in the table will qualify for the quarterfinals. Those who finish in the 5th to 12th spots will compete in the playoffs, and the winners will advance to the quarterfinals. The winner of the 2025/2026 Greek Cup will automatically take part in the third qualifying round of the 2026/2027 Europa League Cup and the 2027 Greek Super Cup.
About the Greek Cup
Betsson became the official sponsor of the Greek Football Cup in 2023, following its sponsorship of the Super League 2 competition in the two previous seasons. Since 1931, a cup winner has been crowned 82 times, except in the 1962 tournament, which had no champion. The most successful club in the tournament’s history is Olympiacos, with 43 appearances in the final and 29 cup trophies to its name.
Before 1971, teams from all over Greece participated in the competition. This meant that strong professional clubs often played against amateur teams and beat them with high scores. A 23-0 win in the 1959 game between Apollon Athens and PAO Neas Melandias remains the highest recorded match tally for a Greek Cup match. Participation is now limited to teams from the Super League 1 and Super League 2, while only amateur clubs compete in the Amateur Cup.

How to Bet on Greek Cup
In Greece football betting, you’re more likely to predict correctly when you stick to simple markets. The most popular of these on Betsmith are:
- Match Result - Any casual or recreational bettor can make a straightforward guess on the winner of a match by observing the odds. The team with the higher chance of winning will have the smaller odds, but you can also choose the “Draw” option if you believe the underdog will hold the opponent to a standstill.
- Total Goals - All you have to do here is choose whether the total number of goals expected in a match will be higher or less than the number we’ve set. The most common Greek Cup bets at Betsmith are in the “Over/Under 2.5” market.
- Number of Goals (Full Time) - This is a more flexible goal market that allows you to select from up to ten different goal tallies expected at full time. Options usually start from as low as “Over/Under 0.5” and continue up to “Over/Under 5”.
